Rent-A-Center, Inc. leases household durable goods to customers on a lease-to-own basis, operating in four segments: Rent-A-Center Business, Acima, Mexico, and Franchising. It offers furniture, appliances, electronics, computers, smartphones, tools, tires, and accessories under rental purchase agreements. The company also provides merchandise on an installment sales basis and lease-to-own transactions to consumers who do not qualify for traditional financing. It operates retail installment sales stores, lease-to-own and franchised stores, and an e-commerce platform. As of December 31, 2021, the company owned and operated approximately 1,846 stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, as well as franchised 466 lease-to-own stores in 32 states.
